About Main Event
Main Event is Palos Verdes Peninsula’s largest fundraising event held at the beautiful Terranea Resort. It’s one of the year’s most eagerly anticipated events and brings the entire community together in support of Palos Verdes’ public schools. This year’s Main Event will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 and will feature the much anticipated online auction, silent and live auctions, tasty cocktails, a memorable gourmet dinner and entertainment by the popular Neil Diamond tribute band, Super Diamond.
This annual event raises much needed funds in order to support essential programs and positions at the 17 schools on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Programs funded by PEF include elementary music, physical education, librarians, STEM programs, academic and comprehensive counselors, college and career centers, as well as teaching positions. PEF also funds teacher grants, high school scholarships and parenting education to parents in the Palos Verdes Unified School District.
Palos Verdes Peninsula public schools receive less funding per student than nearly all other districts in Los Angeles County. As PVPUSD Superintendent, Dr. Alex Cherniss was quoted, “Public education may be free, but an exceptional public education is not free.”
About Peninsula Education Foundation
PEF was established in 1979 by a group of concerned parents when school funding formulas changed, and the district received drastically less money per student. This need still exists today. PEF’s board is comprised of about 30 concerned and active parents with a strong coalition of leaders from the PTA community, Booster Club community and parents in careers with many fields of expertise willing to donate their time and talents year after year.
Peninsula Education Foundation, through the ongoing support of families, alumni, community foundation grants and corporate friends, raises funds to ensure each child in the PVPUSD has a chance at an excellent education.
